Enormously Entertaining - Highly Recommended

Jacob Dalton, Texas Ranger, really couldn't remember a time when he hadn't had Nell, `Two Bits' on his mind. From the very first days the rebellious orphan had come to live and be raised by Fat Alice, the town's madam, she'd been a thorn in his side, and he'd always been there to pull her out of one fix or another. Yet, whenever he returned after chasing desperados around Texas, it would be Nell who'd run, jumping into his arms to welcome him back. Now, after a shooting accident that has left Nell a cripple, he's back after hearing that she was advertising for a husband to run her ranches - and Jacob knows he is the only man for the job! Returning just in time, Nell is interviewing applicant number twelve, an innocent business-like bookkeeper, who seems to be meeting all her qualifications for husband material. Before she can make up her mind Jacob is in her face `bossing her around' and telling her that she darn well marry him before he feels forced to shoot her latest applicant - who promptly passes out on the floor! As if there weren't enough commotion with those two vying for her hand, along comes a slippery lawyer with paperwork stating she already accepted his proposal but whose primary concern was to swindle her out of her property. Oh, and along with that - toss in a vicious gang of train robbers; and, a house full of social misfits that seems to grow and pandemonium reigns supreme! Though Nell has loved Jacob all her life, she's determined not to tie him down with a `cripple' but Jacob has to convince her otherwise.

*** This was an absolutely delightful and entertaining read, from beginning to end. Nell and Jacob, the two main characters were drawn vividly with compassion, humor, and heart. Additionally, the reader is offered up an immense cast of secondary intriguing and quirky characters that all come completely fleshed out revealing their own individuality and you'll find them all worming their way right into your heart! The pace is fast with never a dull moment and you'll find yourself going from laughter to tears in this newest installment to her Texan books. This was my first introduction to this prolific author and I can assure you, it won't be my last! -- Highly recommended for those looking for an immensely entertaining read!

terrific Texas romance

Wounded in an ambush, Nell Smith is healing but remains wheelchair bound aided by Amazonian nurse Mary Ruth. Nell knows she needs someone to help her manage her seven properties so she puts out an ad for a husband willing to sign a prenuptial agreement of no sex and division of ownership in exchange to managing the properties. The first eleven were losers, but the twelfth shows some promise even if he is a greenhorn bookkeeper.

However, everything changes when number thirteen comes busting through her door. Texas Ranger Jacob Dalton learned of the marriage mart four days ago by telegram from Clarendon Sheriff Parker Smith. He rode hard from El Paso knowing if he arrived too late to stop his "Two Bits" from marrying anyone but him, he would make her a widow. Nell tells him to leave when he offers to marry her, and she says I don't because she loves him with all her heart, but believes he still sees her as his mischievous little sister rather than a beautiful adult who has loved him since Fat Alice adopted her as a child. Jacob knows he has his work cut out to prove to his beloved he no longer sees her as his impish younger sibling.

Jodi Thomas shows why she is considered the queen of the Texas romance with this fine western tale. The story line is fun to follow as Two Bits makes Jacob court her because she refuses to marry him as she fears her unrequited love will kill her. The battle of the sexes provides the audience with a fun nineteenth century tale.

Secondary Problems Ruin This Long Awaited Romance.

Finally, Jodi Thomas gives her readers the story of "Two Bits" and "Her Ranger" . . .

THE TEXAN'S REWARD is the final book in Jodi Thomas' "Wife Lottery series" and throughout this series, Thomas hinted at which direction she would take her fourth and final story . . . "I am waiting for you to grow up Miss Nellie Jean" . . . "I'm growing as fast as I can . . . I'll be there before you know it . . ."

Raised, in a brothel, by the town's notorious madam, Nell "Two Bits" Smith had grown up lonely and boisterous. Certainly, over the years, Nell had given the town gossips endless scuttlebutt. Yet, Texas Ranger Jacob Dalton had always been there for her. Always, he had been her hero, her best friend, and finally her heart's secret love. "Her Ranger" had always been there . . . except for the time THE bullet slammed into her back and changed her life forever. Then little "Two Bits" went from lively and troublesome . . . to pitiful and crippled.

Just what was she doing? Preposterous! His Nellie Jean advertising for a husband! Over his dead body! No way! Never! If she needed a husband so bad, then he, Texas Ranger Jacob Dalton, would marry Miss Nell Smith! All he had to do was convince his little "Two Bits." All he had to do was get around her silly husband candidates, and her endless supply of social outcasts, and his never-ending Ranger duties! Exactly when had life gotten so complicated?

I once read "Jodi Thomas writes so, that her reader sees" and I couldn't agree more. Jodi Thomas is a wonderful descriptive author and a western written by Ms. Thomas is indeed a treasure. However, in THE TEXAN'S REWARD, the author lost her romantic direction. Although, the story started with great promise, it soon bogged down in numerous sub-plots. Mind you, sub-plots and secondary characters are great when used for a colorful diversion. However, when they get in the way of the story's main direction, they are unappreciated! Disappointingly, Ms. Thomas spent too much time on secondary problems and Ranger duties then on the main characters' actual wooing. "Two Bits" and "Her Ranger" deserved much more . . .!

Might be good but someone needs to edit it for English.

Whenever I look at a new book and the first thing I see is the phrase "a software", I know the book has not had a decent competent editor involved. I'm sure I'm going to see things like "its" used when "it's" was expected and vice versa.

Please! "Software" is an uncountable noun. It can't be prefixed by the indefinite article.

Some of us still like English to be written properly. Don't skimp on quality.

I kinda gave up, I have no time for poor writing/editing.

Uncommonly accurate Army tale!

So, I was intrigued yet skeptical when I read the summary for this book. I have been getting bored with this genre, as it has gotten rather monotonous lately, but I decided to take a read. Seeing as it was only $0.99, I went ahead and bought it. What the hell, right? I was not disappointed. As a former Soldier myself, I was very pleased with the accuracy of the jargon, regs, and other details pertaining to Army life. I didn't think it would be done right, as I've seen other authors try and fail at it. I was very pleasantly surprised. The story was very well done, and the author really made us care about the plight of our two main characters. I was hooked from start to finish. Very well done. The only somewhat negative point I will make is to say that I highly doubt a Soldier would be unlikely to get on some sort of birth control following the first slip up. Having babies puts your career at risk as a single parent in the military. But then again, maybe they would need to make the same mistakes a few times to finally understand and take precautions. It's been known to happen. Other than that, I fully enjoyed this book and recommend it to anyone who wants a good read.

Hot under fire

In this well written story you have an enlisted army woman named Lindsey and an office cadet named Aaron. While Aaron is a cadet the two are crossing the gray ling being with each other in secret. But the army promote and transfers Lindsey to another base. Aaron will still be at the Academy learning to become an Officer.
Lindsey doesn't know it until arriving at her new base that she pregnant. A cadet can't be married, have any kids and some other stuff, so Lindsey never tells Aaron. Skip three years later and a few shopping carts that bump into each other and sparks are still flying, but the fruit is more forbidden then ever. Well written and very entertaining to read.

"The greatest gift you ever gave me".

I have enjoyed every book I've read by Lauren Landish. But this one sticks out. I am in love with books that make me smile while I cry. This is a love story more than romance story. It is about forbidden love. I'm having a hard time describing how I feel. Happy. Wonderful. Content. Satisfaction. This book was beautifully written. The characters were well rounded. I loved Aaron and Lindsey together. The only difficulty I had was with the rankings/military lingo. I'm not familiar with the Army and it's who/what/when/where/why. It did not discourage me from reading. I am so in love with this story. The sacrifices they had to make and go through. I have respect for anyone who loves someone in the Armed Forces. I have the utmost respect for any individual in the Armed Forces. I wish I could give more than 5 Stars but that still wouldn't do it justice. I can't praise it enough. Absolutely wonderful read.

There's also material on Access programming for automating common tasks. Access 2007 is quite a bit different from previous versions, and has a brand new interface. Once you master Access's new style, you'll be able to build databases rather quickly. The problem is that with Office 2007, you get no printed user guide at all. To learn about the thousands of features included in the software, Microsoft expects you to read the online help. The Microsoft help screens are helpful if you're looking for a quick description of something. If you're seeking information more on the art than science of Access, such as chart creation, you'll find nothing of real use there. This book excels at teaching aspects of Access that involve more wisdom than dictionary definition. This book is divided into seven parts, each containing several chapters:

Part One: Storing Information in Tables. In this part, you'll build your first database and learn how to add and edit tables that store information. Then you'll pick up the skills you need to stop mistakes before they happen, browse around your database, and link tables together.

I found this manual to be head and shoulders above all of the cheap "shovelware" books on such subjects that often have all the information you need, but are disorganized. I haven't seen any of the new versions of the "Que" books that always come out on Access, but I haven't been that satisfied with them in the past. I recommend this book for anybody planning on using Access 2007.

Easy to understand and written in an interesting manner.

I have a number of years of programming and system experience, but had not been exposed to Access. I decided to rewrite my business systems using Access to convert them from the Paradox system that I had used for years. Using this book and Microsoft Office Access(TM) 2007 Inside Out (Microsoft Office Access Inside Out), I have already rewritten more than half of my systems in a couple of weeks, working on them for a couple of hours each evening. Granted, I am still not an expert, but I have been able to write Virtual Basic macros, designed and completed a number of tables for my data base, forms using multiple subforms, selection boxes, and functional buttons, and a number of professional looking reports. The use of these two books has greatly shortened my learning curve and helped me to be productive in much less time than it would have taken without them.

Helped me tremendously

This book helped me tremendously. I had NO EXPERIENCE with access, and was put into the position of creating a database at work. I went through the training videos offered through work, and they were no help. I borrowed Access For Dummies, and that was marginally helpful, but with the MM I was able to design the database from scratch. I plan on ordering more from this series.

Finally someone teaches us about the Psychology of The Heart. What an incredible book.

I found this book a joy to read and it is very therapeutic. What I love about this book is that the heart exercises help you to learn to trust your heart, and to let ego of what Dr. Ed calls "limiting patterns." This book can really help you to reduce stress, manage emotions, experience person growth, and find true happiness in the core of your heart. If you go through this book chapter by chapter, there is a huge opportunity for transformational growth for everyone. The Psychology of The Heart is applicable to both the professional therapist as it is for the layperson.
