Edward R. Gould, M.D. is an Internal Medicine resident at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. He graduated with his medical degree from SUNY Upstate Medical University, and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry and Bachelor of Science in Biology from SUNY University at Albany.

Used it. Loved It.

I bought most of the Deja Review series while studying for Step 1, and used them as 2nd tier resources (After FA, Goljan, qBanks). Physiology was one of my favorites, and I read it cover to cover at least twice. It hits all the high points of physiology without bogging you down in information that won't be on Step 1. Obviously it doesn't replace the 1st tier resources, but it does offer an opportunity to kill some time without engaging you in dense reading.
The trick is learning how to use Deja Review and recognizing its limitations. The books are designed to increase fact recall, not convey understanding. The books aren't going to help you wade through question stems, but they will occasionally help you choose between those last two nagging answer choices. The physiology book in particular helped me cement some relationships that ended up helping me on test day. Definitely recommended as a supplemental text for fine-tuning.

This is certainly not the best way to learn physiology, but it is a great review of you already do know it and need to brush up on the subject.

Easy and simple

This was great for my med school phys review. It goes over all the big concepts and it is fairly easy to know what you don't understand.
